I stay in Alakahia, close to UPTH and ever since I moved there in 2017, PHED always brought 3 different bills for my compound which is a One block of six (6) flats.We complained and they always brought 3 different bills with different addresses and insist that we pay these estimated bills which totals more than 40,000.00. Recently, we have discovered that they have still brought 3 bills but have changed one of the addresses of the 3 bills to align so we now have 2 of the 3 bills with our address. We have maintained one bill and always pay our bills when due. Please help as the lady we were directed to deal with is very unreasonable. Thansk

Dear Edu, In calculating electricity usage and billing, the appropriate rule is that each electricity supply address is entitled to one bill per supply address. Therefore, seeing as you have six individual flats on that block, by right of law, each of the flat is entitled to have its own separate electricity account and billing. This means that by right, PHEDC should be issuing six bills for each of the flats, rather than three bills as they have done. Collective/bulk billing and payment are prohibited. You can see from the above that you and other residents of the flats have been under-billed all along. If you then seek to resolve this issue, we would advise that each member of your flat apply to get a separate electricity account registered with the PHEDC in order to properly calculate your billing and usage. Right now, it is not the number of bills brought that is in contest but to verify whether the bills brought are registered with the proper account. This you can do by demanding for the billing history and review of the two extra accounts in order to confirm their authenticity. We hope this was helpful.
