I got home yesterday only to find out nepa had disconnected me. They had just brought the bill that morning when I had hond to work . They left a disconnection notice with my girl. Well, I reconnected the wire n paid part of my bill this morning, only for them to come back again to cut my wire and go with it. Even as they were shown the receipt of the bill played. They said we should pay everything including reconnection fee before we can have light. What sort of madness is this? What am I supposed to do now?

You should not have reconnected yourself. They disconnected you illegally, but you cannot meet illegality with illegality. Rather, you should have complained IN WRITING to the PHEDC Business Unit serving your location. They may not take any action but it is a necessary step before you can take the matter to the NERC Forum, which is statutorily empowered to handle the issue. Give the DisCo 15 days to respond to your letter. If they do not, write to the Chairman of the Port Harcourt NERC Forum. You can find the address on the link below.
