Please why is it that it takes so long to fix a tranformer when its not supposed to be that way. They bring the bills and the nextweek they start cutting off the power supply. Transformer in my area rumukalagbpr spoilt since 9th of march they took it away till now weve not heard anything. We were told to get a new one or fix that one!

Dear Chukwudi, Unfortunately, transformers may take a while to fix depending on the nature of the problem and the resources available to the DisCo. Nevertheless, it is neither your responsibility nor that of other electricity customers to pay for the repair or purchase of a transformer; that is the responsibility of the DisCo. Therefore, you cannot be compelled to get a new one or fix the old one. However, due to the delay of the DisCo in resolving transformer problems speedily, customers often go into an agreement with the DisCo to finance the purchase and repair of meters in exchange for the DisCos repayment of the customers money in the form of electricity credit equal to the amount of money spent. It is advised that such agreements are documented in writing and that the customer understands that such electrical equipment, once integrated into the electricity grid, becomes the property of the DisCo.
