My community MFOM 1 Ogoja Local Government Area have been Disconnected for Two months now for alleged non payment of bills, but meanwhile bills are always paid to NEPA agents. On a monthly basis through direct charge since we are not given meters. Thanks in anticipation EYEH PETER EYEH FOR MFOM 1 COMMUNITY.

Dear Eyeh, The PHEDC has erred by putting your community in darkness because of the failure of some customers to defray their electricity bills. Customers are to be treated on an individual basis, and this is why electricity accounts are different (bills inclusive). A customers failure or refusal to pay bills should not, in any way, affect the right of another diligent customer to enjoy electricity services. This is even made more alarming for the fact that you allege you have been paying bills monthly to NEPA agents. So where have these sums been going? What part does the PHEDC play in this whole thing? You also have to answer this important question: who has been delivering your bills - the same NEPA agent(s)? You will also have to find a way to unravel the identity of the said NEPA agents who you have been making payments to. You could make do with a video recording or a photograph of these persons in or off action. If the persons are indeed agents of the PHEDC, then the PHEDC would be fully responsible for all the sums that you have handed these NEPA agents. We will advise that you write to the PHEDC business unit in your area and bring to its notice the fact of the illegality of its action. The law does not allow for indiscriminate disconnection. Also petition it on the issue of your payments to the said agents, and why they have not been reflecting. Get the PHEDC to acknowledge your letter and do keep a copy with you. The law mandates the PHEDC to respond to you appropriately within 15 working days. If it fails to, you can then write to the NERC Forum Office in Port Harcourt (The address is below). Attach a copy of the disregarded letter.
