We never get light in our neighborhood Egbelu and Elioparanwo. When it is close to when to bring bills, they give the light between 1am and 5am, as soon as we pay our bills, the light goes till another month end what can we do about it.

You have 2 options. The more difficult one would be to file an enforcement action action PHEDC for breach of Customer Service Standards of Performance. You would need to initiate this action at the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission Abuja. It would require communal agreement and action, but it would serve to galvanize the DisCo into improving supply to your area. The easier option would be to reduce the companys earnings from your area by contesting the bills they give you. Most of the consumers in your area are on estimated billing platform, so you end up paying for power that is never supplied. If you only pay for what you actually use, they will improve supply. If they dont, at least your aggravation at paying bills for nonexistent power will reduce. To contest your bills, you will need to mobilize the residents around you to write a joint letter to the PHEDC Business Unit serving the area or to their Moscow Road office. Ask for a review of your bills for the past 4 - 5 years. Wait for 15 days. If they dont do anything, write another letter to the NERC FORUM Office at Port Harcourt. You can get the address from the list of Forum offices on our home page. If the Forum finds that your bills have been excessive, they will reduce them and order PHEDC to refund the money you have paid to your accounts. This may not improve your power supply immediately but at least, you will only pay for what is supplied. We hope this helps.
